Walter - 'States of the USA'

Good day to you, friends!

when searching for Songs for Walter's recent "Cities" - mix I found loads of tunes with USA-states in the title and mentioned that fact in my post. Now, apparantly the mix met with Walter's approval, because he wrote in as thus:

"I have another request: You talked about songs with federal states in their titles - so do it."

Of course I am more than happy to oblige, Walter, so here you are, this is for you ... enjoy:

The only reason this comes in so late is that Walter was moving houses and had no Internet access for quite a while: but now he's back and his wonderful site "A Few Great Times In My Life" is back to form, so I urge you all to pay him a visit soon.

In case you should have been wondering why the majority of my choices are for Texas .... I have no idea why this is myself ... somehow quite a lot of folk thought it would be a good thing to write a song about Texas, and nothing wrong with that either!

Also sorry for the fact that the second tune doesn't have the States' name in the title, only the group contains it, but it's so wonderful, I simply had to include it!

Again, I do hope I am not the only one who thinks this is rather as fine mix altogether!

Enjoy your weekend, people!

Dirk - I've got a States of the Union playlist on my Ipod. Texas is by far the most popular with California second
Alabama and Georgia also feature
Being a country fan I suspect that I have more to choose from than you!
Good to hear old Shuk getting an airing

Thank you Dirk for another fantastic compilation. I expected 'Private Idaho' but never The King! His first record made fun to a lot of people. I remember his concert in Stuttgart when we all went in wearing a cardboard crown from Burger King. And don't worry about Shuk Richard - sometimes I like listening to zydeko with the typical accordion playing. Looking forward to your next compilation.
